Wave packet
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-010155
A localized disturbance formed by the superposition of multiple waves with slightly different wavelengths and frequencies. This combination results in a group of waves that travels as a single entity, with the overall envelope of the packet moving at the group velocity. In atmospheric science, wave packets are observed in phenomena such as gravity waves and Rossby waves, influencing energy propagation.
