Acrylamide polymer

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004215

A synthetic, water-soluble polymer used as a drilling fluid additive to control viscosity and reduce fluid loss. In its partially hydrolyzed form (PHPA), it encapsulates shale cuttings, preventing them from swelling and dispersing into the mud system, which maintains wellbore stability. The degree of hydrolysis and molecular weight are adjusted to suit specific fluid properties and downhole temperature conditions.
