Azimuthal density
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000234
A formation density measurement that is recorded in sectors around the circumference of the borehole, rather than as a single bulk value. The logging tool uses a rotating sensor or multiple fixed sensors to measure gamma ray backscatter from different sides of the wellbore. This provides a high-resolution image of density variations, which is used to identify fractures, thin beds, and borehole wall irregularities like breakouts or washouts.
