Ring resistivity
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003173
A focused resistivity measurement made by a narrow ring electrode, about 4 cm wide, on the collar of a logging-while-drilling resistivity-at-the-bit tool. Current from two transmitters is focused radially through the ring into the formation, giving a single value that averages around the borehole, unlike the button electrodes, which produce azimuthal images as the tool rotates. It resolves beds about 5 cm thick and reads roughly 18 cm into the formation.
