Bottomhole heater
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000418
A device installed near the bottom of a wellbore to heat the crude oil or other fluids, reducing their viscosity and improving flow to the surface. This is particularly useful in wells producing heavy oil or paraffinic crude that can solidify or become too viscous at reservoir temperatures. Electric or hot fluid circulation systems are common types.
