Calibration
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000526
The process of adjusting a measurement tool or a model to conform to a known standard or a set of direct measurements. In petrophysics, well logs are calibrated against core analysis data to provide more accurate calculations of porosity or water saturation across the reservoir. For seismic data, calibration involves tying seismic reflectors to specific depths and geological markers identified in a well using a checkshot or VSP survey.
