Systematic error

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003744

A consistent, repeatable deviation in measurement results from the true value, caused by flaws in the measurement system or method. This type of error affects all measurements in the same way, leading to a bias that cannot be reduced by increasing the number of measurements. It is often identified through calibration against known standards or by comparing results from different measurement techniques.
