Measurement error
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002311
The difference between a measured value from a logging tool and the true physical property of the formation. It comprises both systematic error, which is a consistent offset due to calibration or tool design, and random error, which is unpredictable statistical fluctuation. The total error is quantified by statistical parameters such as accuracy, which describes systematic error, and precision, which describes random error.
