Cementation
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000618
The diagenetic process by which dissolved minerals precipitate in the pore spaces of sediments, binding the grains together to form a solid rock. This process reduces the porosity and permeability of the rock, affecting its ability to store and transmit fluids. Common cementing agents include silica, calcite, and iron oxides.
