Sandstone
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003252
A type of clastic sedimentary rock formed from cemented sand-sized mineral, rock, or organic material grains. The grains are predominantly quartz, and the cementing material is typically silica, calcite, or iron oxides. Due to its common high porosity and permeability, sandstone is the host rock for many of the world's most productive oil and gas reservoirs.
