CMC-HVT
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000715
A high-viscosity grade of technical-grade carboxymethylcellulose, where the letter T marks the less purified commercial grade and not a temperature rating. It is added to water-based muds to raise viscosity and reduce filtrate loss, and it builds more viscosity per pound than the low-viscosity technical grade. Technical grades contain more salt and by-products than purified CMC grades.
