Curing
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000926
The chemical process of hydration and hardening in cement after it has been placed in a wellbore. During this time, the cement slurry develops compressive strength and forms a low-permeability solid that bonds to the casing and the formation. The curing time and resulting strength are functions of temperature, pressure, and the cement's chemical composition, with laboratory tests simulating downhole conditions to predict performance.
