Disharmonic
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001114
Describing folds or structural deformation where the style and geometry of folding vary significantly between different stratigraphic layers. This occurs when layers with contrasting mechanical properties, such as competent sandstones and incompetent shales, respond differently to the same stress. Disharmonic folding often involves décollement surfaces where layers detach and fold independently.
