Extensive dilatancy anisotropy, a model describing seismic anisotropy caused by the alignment of fluid-filled microcracks or fractures in a rock mass. These cracks, often induced by stress, can cause shear waves to split into two orthogonally polarized components traveling at different velocities. EDA is used to infer the orientation and intensity of subsurface fracture networks.
