Equivalent weight
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001321
The mass of a substance that combines with or is equivalent to a fixed amount of another substance, typically one gram of hydrogen or eight grams of oxygen. In drilling fluid chemistry, it is used to calculate the amount of a chemical needed to react with a specific quantity of another component, particularly in titrations. For an ion, it is its atomic weight divided by its valence.
