Erosion corrosion
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001325
A form of material degradation that occurs when mechanical erosion, caused by the flow of abrasive fluids or particles, combines with chemical corrosion. This synergistic effect often leads to accelerated material loss compared to either process acting alone. It is a common problem in pipelines and production equipment handling high-velocity or particle-laden fluids in oil and gas operations.
