Feldspar
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001382
A group of rock-forming tectosilicate minerals that are abundant in the Earth's crust and a common constituent of reservoir sandstones. Although feldspars are framework grains that contribute to porosity, they are chemically less stable than quartz and can alter to form clays like kaolinite and illite. This alteration process reduces reservoir quality by clogging pore throats and decreasing permeability.
