Fixed choke

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001439

A choke whose orifice size cannot be adjusted while installed, a replaceable bean or insert sized in 64ths of an inch. It restricts flow to hold production near a chosen rate and holds back pressure at the wellhead, and the pressure drop across it rises as flow rate rises. Changing the rate means swapping the bean, unlike an adjustable choke whose needle or cage moves.
