Gas-cap drive
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001634
A natural reservoir drive mechanism where an overlying gas cap expands to push oil toward production wells as reservoir pressure declines. The gas cap provides energy to displace the oil, maintaining reservoir pressure to some extent. This mechanism is most effective in reservoirs with high permeability and a large initial gas cap.
