An abbreviation for hydraulic horsepower, the power available from the drilling fluid flow rate and pressure at a specific point in the circulating system. It is calculated to assess the energy available at the bit for hole cleaning and to power downhole motors. The calculation for HHP is the pressure in pounds per square inch multiplied by the flow rate in gallons per minute, divided by the constant 1714.
