Hydraulic horsepower
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001894
The power available from the drilling fluid flow rate and pressure at a specific point in the circulating system, such as at the bit nozzles. This energy is used for hole cleaning and to drive downhole tools like mud motors. Hydraulic horsepower (HHP) is calculated by multiplying pressure (psi) by flow rate (gpm) and dividing the product by the constant 1714.
