Iron stabilizer
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002039
A chemical additive used in acidizing treatments to prevent the precipitation of iron compounds, which can occur when acid reacts with iron-containing minerals or rust from tubulars. These stabilizers chelate or sequester the dissolved iron, keeping it in solution and preventing the formation of damaging precipitates that can plug the formation. Common examples include citric acid or EDTA.
