EDTA
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001248
Ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, a chelating agent used in drilling fluids to sequester metal ions, particularly calcium and magnesium. It forms stable complexes with these ions, preventing them from interfering with the performance of other fluid additives or causing scale formation. EDTA is often employed in completion fluids or in systems where hard water is used for mixing.
