Magnetic reversal sequence
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002258
A chronological record of changes in the Earth's magnetic field polarity, preserved in rocks as they form. This sequence is used to date geological events and correlate rock strata across different regions. The pattern of normal and reversed polarity zones provides a global timescale for oceanic crust formation.
