non-Darcy flow
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002554
Fluid movement through a porous medium where the pressure drop is not directly proportional to the flow rate, deviating from Darcy's Law. This occurs at high flow velocities, particularly in gas wells or near the wellbore, due to inertial effects and turbulence. The additional pressure drop caused by non-Darcy flow is often quantified by a rate-dependent skin factor.
