Poppet valve
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002862
A type of valve that uses a disc or cone-shaped element, called a poppet, to control fluid flow by moving perpendicularly to the valve seat. When the poppet is pressed against the seat, flow is blocked; when lifted, flow is permitted. These valves are used in downhole tools and surface equipment for precise flow control and sealing, such as in mud pumps or safety valves.
