Scraper trap

A pressure vessel installed at either end of a pipeline section, designed to launch or receive pipeline pigs (scrapers). These devices are used for cleaning the pipeline, inspecting its integrity, or separating different fluid batches. Scraper traps are fabricated according to industry standards such as ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code.
