Suppression

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004462

The process of reducing or eliminating unwanted noise or coherent interference from seismic data to enhance the signal-to-noise ratio. This can involve filtering out ground roll, multiples, or other types of coherent noise that obscure reflections from target reservoirs. Common methods include f-k filtering, radon transforms, and predictive deconvolution.
