Throttling
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003828
The process of intentionally restricting the flow of a fluid to control its pressure, flow rate, or temperature. This is achieved by partially closing a valve, which increases the fluid's velocity and reduces its pressure downstream. Throttling can lead to energy loss and cavitation if not managed properly, especially with high-pressure differentials.
