Treater
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004480
A vessel used in production facilities to separate oil, gas, and water from a produced well stream emulsion. It applies heat to lower the oil's viscosity, introduces chemicals to break down the emulsion, and provides a quiet settling period for the fluids to separate by gravity. Treaters are designed as either horizontal or vertical units and are a standard component of most surface production systems for dehydrating crude oil to meet sales specifications.
