Ultrasonic measurement
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003972
The use of high-frequency sound waves to evaluate properties of materials or to detect flaws. In well logging, ultrasonic tools emit pulses and record the reflected or transmitted waves to determine borehole caliper, cement bond quality, and formation acoustic properties. These measurements are typically performed at frequencies above 20 kHz.
