Wash pipe

A relatively short, large-diameter pipe that is run into a well to circulate fluid over the outside of a stuck object, such as a fish or a section of drill pipe. Fluid is pumped down the wash pipe and exits at its base, washing away sand, cuttings, or other debris that is causing the object to be stuck. The wash pipe's internal diameter must be large enough to fit over the outside diameter of the stuck item.
