Waterdrive
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004106
A natural reservoir drive mechanism where the expansion of an underlying or adjacent aquifer provides the primary energy for displacing oil or gas towards the production wells. As fluids are produced, the aquifer water encroaches into the reservoir, maintaining pressure and sweeping hydrocarbons. The efficiency of a waterdrive depends on the aquifer size, permeability, and reservoir geometry.
