Zonal
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004502
Relating to or arranged in zones or layers with distinct characteristics. In reservoir characterization, zonal analysis involves dividing a formation into horizontal layers, each with its own average properties like porosity, water saturation, and permeability. Petrophysicists calculate these properties from well log data for each zone to build a layered reservoir model for simulation.
