Stocker
Term · Semiconductors · MLC-T-SEM-000322
An automated storage and retrieval system within a semiconductor fabrication plant that provides a clean, controlled environment for wafer cassettes, also known as front opening unified pods (FOUPs). This system acts as a central buffer, holding work-in-progress between processing steps and delivering cassettes to manufacturing tools via the automated material handling system. Stockers are organized by storage bays and shelves, with robotic arms handling the movement of FOUPs into and out of the system.
