Diode-based Additive Manufacturing
Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000103
A category of metal additive manufacturing, also known as DiAM, that uses arrays of high-power laser diodes as the energy source to melt and fuse metal powder or wire. These systems distribute energy over a wider area compared to the single-point beams found in conventional laser powder bed fusion, allowing for high deposition rates. Diode-based processes are applied in technologies such as Seurat Technologies' Area Printing, which prints entire layers at once.
