Packing
Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000263
The process of arranging multiple 3D models within the build volume of a printer to maximize the number of parts produced in a single print job. This is especially common in powder bed fusion technologies like SLS and MJF, where parts are self-supporting within the powder bed. Effective packing algorithms in preparation software increase throughput and reduce the cost per part by minimizing wasted space and machine time.
