Selective absorption fusion

Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000337

A powder bed fusion additive manufacturing process that uses an infrared-absorbing fluid to selectively heat and fuse polymer powder particles. An inkjet printhead deposits the fluid onto the powder bed according to the part's cross-section, and then an infrared lamp heats the entire bed. Only the areas with the absorbing fluid reach the fusion temperature, creating solid layers.
