Seam
Term · Additive manufacturing and 3D printing · MLC-T-ADM-000336
A visible line or ridge on the surface of a 3D printed part, resulting from the start and end points of an extrusion path in fused deposition modeling (FDM). This discontinuity occurs where the printer nozzle begins and finishes depositing material for a given layer. Seams can be minimized by adjusting print settings or strategically placing them in less visible areas of the model.
