Absorbed local spectral radiance

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000067

The rate at which radiant energy is absorbed per unit volume at a point in an irradiated medium, within a narrow wavelength interval, also called the local volumetric rate of energy absorption. For a collimated beam it equals the Napierian absorption coefficient multiplied by the spectral radiance at that point, and for a divergent beam the spectral spherical irradiance is used instead. It is expressed in watts per cubic metre per nanometre.
