Spherical radiance

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011186

A radiometric quantity equal to the radiant exitance: the radiant power leaving a source, summed over all directions and over the whole wavelength range, per unit area of the emitting surface. Its SI unit is the watt per square metre, with no solid-angle division, unlike radiance. It is the integral of radiance, weighted by the cosine of the emission angle, over the solid angle of the hemisphere.
