Local differential absorption
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006732
The rate at which radiant energy is absorbed per unit volume at a specific point within a medium, considering the local concentration of absorbing species and the local radiation field. This quantity is a function of position and wavelength, reflecting the spatial variation of energy deposition. It is a key parameter in understanding energy transfer processes in photochemistry and radiation chemistry.
