Accelerator mass spectrometry
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000094
A highly sensitive mass spectrometry technique that uses a particle accelerator to separate and count individual isotopes, particularly long-lived radionuclides. It effectively eliminates isobaric interferences by accelerating ions to high energies and employing charge-state changes. This method is widely used for radiocarbon dating and tracing environmental processes.
