Acid transient effects
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000137
An increase in the time that the signal of an inductively coupled plasma spectrometer takes to equilibrate, or to wash out, after the inorganic acid concentration of the introduced solution is changed. It appears as drifting intensities when switching between solutions of different acid strength, so longer rinse and stabilisation periods are needed before measurement. It is a timing effect, distinct from the steady-state signal suppression that a given acid concentration produces.
