Aeration

The process of introducing air or another gas into a liquid or solid, often to promote chemical or biological reactions. This can involve bubbling gas through a liquid or exposing a solid to an air current. Aeration is frequently employed in wastewater treatment to supply oxygen for microbial decomposition of organic matter.
