Anger camera

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000590

A type of gamma camera used in nuclear medicine to image the distribution of radioactive tracers within the body. It consists of a large scintillation crystal, typically sodium iodide, coupled to an array of photomultiplier tubes. When gamma rays interact with the crystal, light is produced, and the photomultiplier tubes detect and localize these events to form an image.
