Asphyxia

A condition characterized by a severe deficiency of oxygen in the body, accompanied by an excess of carbon dioxide, leading to unconsciousness or death. It results from interference with normal respiration, such as choking, drowning, or exposure to suffocating gases. This state can cause irreversible damage to organs, particularly the brain, if prolonged.
