Brain herniation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001468
A life-threatening condition where increased intracranial pressure causes brain tissue to be displaced and squeezed across rigid anatomical barriers within the skull. This displacement can compress vital brain structures and blood vessels, leading to severe neurological damage or death. It is often a consequence of head trauma, stroke, or brain tumors.
