Atrioventricular

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000921

Relating to the structures, functions, or region between the atria and the ventricles of the heart. This includes the atrioventricular (AV) node, which electrically connects the atrial and ventricular chambers, and the atrioventricular valves (the tricuspid and mitral valves), which control blood flow between these chambers. An atrioventricular septal defect is a congenital heart malformation involving a hole between the heart's chambers.
