Becquerel
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001170
The SI derived unit of activity of a radionuclide, defined as the activity of a quantity of radioactive material in which one nucleus decays per second. It is named after Henri Becquerel, who discovered radioactivity. The unit has dimensions of reciprocal time (s⁻¹) and replaces the older, non-SI unit, the curie (Ci), where 1 curie is exactly equal to 3.7 x 10¹⁰ becquerels.
